Overview

I have worked extensively with Artificial Intelligence across strategy, architecture, and delivery—focusing on practical, production‑oriented AI systems rather than experimental prototypes. This work spans classical machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and modern generative AI architectures built on large language models (LLMs) and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG).

Across engagements, AI is positioned as an augmentation layer on top of authoritative enterprise data and systems, not a replacement for them. The emphasis has consistently been on accuracy, relevance, governance, and operational readiness, particularly in search‑, discovery‑, and knowledge‑driven application

Generative AI Strategy & Operationalization

A significant portion of the work has focused on helping organizations move from AI experimentation to real deployment. This includes defining where generative AI creates value, how success is measured, and how systems can be governed responsibly. This work has included:

  • executive‑level AI strategy and education,
  • identification and prioritization of AI use cases,
  • guidance on model selection versus retrieval‑based approaches,
  • and defining metrics and guardrails for production AI systems.

These efforts are captured in authored strategic guidance on operationalizing generative AI and aligning it with business outcomes.

Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) Architectures

Typical RAG‑focused activities include:

  • designing retrieval pipelines using vector, hybrid, and keyword search,
  • defining chunking, embedding, and relevance strategies,
  • integrating LLMs with authoritative content sources,
  • and reducing hallucination risk through controlled retrieval.

RAG has been treated as a search and relevance problem first, with generative models layered on top for summarization, explanation, and interaction.

Natural Language Processing & Semantic Understanding

Before and alongside LLMs, I have worked with NLP techniques to improve how systems understand and respond to user intent. This includes:

  • query interpretation and intent classification,
  • semantic similarity using embeddings,
  • named entity recognition and text classification,
  • and hybrid approaches combining symbolic and statistical methods.

These techniques form the backbone of AI‑driven search, discovery, and decision‑support systems, and are often used to enhance relevance before introducing generative outputs

AI‑Driven Search & Discovery Systems

A recurring theme in AI engagements has been the use of AI to improve search and discovery, rather than treating AI as a standalone chatbot. This work includes:

  • AI‑powered product and content discovery,
  • generative summaries and explanations grounded in search results,
  • personalized and intent‑aware retrieval experiences,
  • and AI‑assisted comparison and decision support.

These systems emphasize explainability and trust, ensuring users can understand where answers come from and why they are relevant.

Prototyping, Pilots, and Production Readiness

AI initiatives have often been delivered through iterative pilots, designed to surface cost, performance, and data‑quality constraints early. Typical pilot phases included:

  • proof‑of‑concept generative workflows,
  • evaluation of accuracy, latency, and cost,
  • identification of scaling and governance gaps,
  • and transition planning from prototype to production.

This approach allows teams to adopt AI incrementally while avoiding costly architectural resets.
