Working with Elastic: Search Modernization, Relevance, and AI Foundations
Overview
I have worked extensively with Coveo across enterprise environments, delivering search architecture, relevance optimization, platform assessments, and implementation support for workplace search, customer experience, and digital platforms.
These engagements consistently positioned Coveo as an embedded enterprise capability—integrated into existing ecosystems such as SharePoint, Salesforce, AEM, Drupal, and custom applications—rather than a standalone search layer. The work spans health checks, hands‑on delivery, custom integrations, and strategic advisory to help organizations improve information discovery, relevance, and adoption.
Types of Coveo Engagements
Enterprise Search Assessments & Health Checks
A core area of our Coveo work has been Search Best Practices and Health Check engagements, designed to evaluate existing Coveo implementations and provide actionable recommendations.
These engagements typically included:
- review of current Coveo configuration and use cases,
- analysis of analytics and relevance signals,
- identification of gaps related to “care and feeding” of the platform,
- and a prioritized roadmap for configuration improvements and feature adoption.
The outcome was a documented set of recommendations and a clear path to improving relevance, usability, and long‑term platform value.
Enterprise Search Architecture & Implementation
I have served as Search Architect / Managing Architect on multiple Coveo implementations, supporting enterprise search across internal and external digital properties. Representative work includes:
- SharePoint‑ and Salesforce‑integrated Coveo search solutions,
- workplace and knowledge search across multiple enterprise repositories,
- and large‑scale connector‑driven indexing strategies spanning systems such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, ServiceNow, and cloud storage platforms
- Custom connectors (Rest of Native code)
Custom Authentication, Security, and Plugins
In Coveo environments requiring tighter security integration, I have designed and delivered custom authentication providers and extensions to align Coveo with enterprise security models.
This work has included:
- custom authentication providers,
- role‑based access alignment with enterprise identity systems,
- and secure ingestion patterns for protected content sources.
These efforts ensured that search relevance and personalization respected enterprise access controls without degrading performance or user experience.
UI Frameworks, Headless, and Experience Enablement
Beyond backend relevance, I have supported Coveo implementations at the experience layer, advising on and delivering search interfaces using Coveo Atomic and headless frameworks. This work included:
- assessing existing search interfaces and migration approaches,
- determining suitability of Atomic vs. headless implementations,
- prototyping and integrating updated search UIs into CMS platforms,
- and supporting user testing and handoff documentation.
The focus was on improving adoption and usability while maintaining alignment with enterprise branding and platform constraints
Analytics, Relevance Measurement, and Optimization
Coveo analytics were treated as a first‑class relevance signal, not an afterthought. Engagements included designing and implementing analytics strategies to measure search effectiveness and guide optimization. Typical deliverables included:
- analytics configuration and validation,
- custom reports and dashboards,
- identification of low‑performing queries and content gaps,
- and recommendations for continuous relevance improvement cycles.
